Imaan Ennis

Matrescence was born out of lived experience. Growing up with a single Black mother in Georgia and later becoming a mother myself, I witnessed firsthand the isolation, lack of resources, and gaps in support that too many Black women face—especially here in Colorado, where many of us are transplants without family nearby. As a mother, doula, and community builder, I felt called to create a space that not only provides care but also restores connection. At Matrescence, we are rewriting the narrative of Black motherhood—transforming it from one marked by struggle into one defined by empowerment, wellness, creativity, and joy.
